Location Details – 1 hour 21 minute drive from Trailfitters to the Superior Hiking Trail Sugarloaf Rd Trailhead in Schroeder, MN
Park at the Superior Hiking Trail Sugarloaf Rd Trailhead. Head North on the SHT past Sugarloaf Pond Campsite until you reach the short path to the left towards Ruffy Lake. There are 2 small benches right at the water where you will take your #TFTC26 Selfie with Ruffy Lake in the background. The shore on this side of the lake is a delicate Peat Bog. You’ll notice the soft, spongy ground ripple as you walk. Please be careful and respectful of this fragile ecosystem by staying on the trail. Retrace your steps & Leave No Trace!
Camping Options – Looking to make a camping trip out of this hike? There are two Superior Hiking Trail campsites nearby. The first option is to backtrack to Sugarloaf Pond Campsite. The other option is Dyers Creek Campsite, which is 2 miles past Ruffy Lake for a total distance of 8.7 miles. See the SHT’s website for campsite rules & trail etiquette.
