Location Details – 56 minute drive from Trailfitters to Split Rock Lighthouse State Park near Beaver Bay, MN

Minnesota State Park Pass needed for parking. Park at the Split Rock Lighthouse State Park Trail Center by Pebble Beach. Start hiking on the path along the beach towards the Cart-In Campground. Through the campground take a left at Junction “G” away from the Day Hill Trail. At the next intersection go right towards Bob Stairs. After the stairs continue straight through Junction “H.” After passing the BP1 Campsite, stay straight ahead to the left through Junction “I” and “J.” At Junction “K” go up towards Corundum Point. Keep following the windy path up to the rocky outcrop overlooking Lake Superior. Take your #TFTC26 Selfie here with Lake Superior and the shoreline in the background.

NOTE: GAIA Maps, which we screenshotted for our directions, has Corundum Point both mislabeled AND misspelled! It’s quite the conundrum if you will… If using GAIA or our screenshot, the Photo Spot location says Split Rock Point, but it is actually Corundum Point!

Make your way back, but instead of going the same way, take a left at Junction “J” and then a right at Junction “T” to get onto the paved Gitchi Gami Trail. Stay on this path until Junction “W.” If you have the time and energy we recommend taking the short detour up Day Hill, but it is not required for this hike! Continue straight through Junction “W” to head back towards the Cart-In Campground and follow the same path back to your car at the Trail Center. Remember to Leave No Trace!
